About Jim Waid
My paintings are about energy, both in how they are created and the image itself. Curiosity is the main energy.
Jim Waid has lived and worked in Tucson, Arizona for over 40 years. After receiving a BFA from the University of New Mexico and a MFA from the University of Arizona, he moved on to teach art at Pima Community College for nearly a decade.

He has been a visiting artist at the University of Idaho, Arizona State University, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Visiting Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona, and Distinguished Visiting Artist at the University of Oklahoma
He has created two public art works in Tucson, "SONORAN SPRING," a 5' x 59' mural at the Dan Eckstrom-Columbus Library, and "SANTA CRUZ," a 9' x 50' mural at the Evo DeConcini Federal Courthouse.
His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the country, and is included in a number of corporate collections ranging from Coca Cola, Atlanta, GA, to the MGM Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV.
Museum collections include: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; Tucson Museum of Art; The University of Arizona Museum of Art; The Phoenix Art Museum; Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton, MA; Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe; University of Oklahoma Museum of Art, Norman, OK; The Oklahoma State Capitol Collection, Oklahoma City; Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Florida; San Antonio Museum of Art; The Superior Court Art Trust, Washington, DC; and the American Embassy in Quito, Ecuador among others.
